Goodbye Sweet Kate
The beautiful Kate McGarrigle died to day. I saw her and her sister Anna in the Mandella hall in the late 70's. They battled against a crowd who were angry at the show starting three hours late. They were tired after a really bad journey. Neither side backed down, but they won the respect of the audience with their bravery and beautiful music. I had hoped I would get to hear them one more time, but that will never happen now. Kate is the Mother to Rufus and Martha Wainwright.
